Beginning March 21, we will be offering school tours in French by reservation, focusing on the French connections to the Lewis and Clark Expedition, including the Louisiana Purchase, St. Louis culture and French architecture, the translators of French and indigenous parentage aboard the pirogues, and the impact of French fur traders along the Missouri. French maps of exploration, Lafayette’s 1824 visit to Charlottesville, and Jefferson’s relationship to France will also be discussed. We do not offer perfect accents, but we will give students the opportunity to use French outside of the classroom and to learn more about the French presence in North America. We’ll have two levels of our tour: a fully French tour for B1 and B2 level students, and an English tour with a French vocabulary lesson and simple phrases for students at the A1 and A2 levels. Please email us at lcecvirginia@gmail.com for more information. Adult learners interested in the program are also welcome to contact us!
