We have modified that Monday and Tuesday conference start time so our Western participants don’t have to be in front of their screens at 6 AM! We’ll be starting at 10 AM Eastern Standard Time Monday through Wednesday. 7 is still early, but at least the sun will be up!

Thanks for the new start time, I am Pacific time here in Idaho. I note that there will be a virtual tour of the expedition boats, apparently those you have at your building site. If you and Becky attended the 2019 annual meeting then you will know that there are no accurate replica boats or paintings in the country in particular the hulls of the boats. The pirogues were giant dugouts, not plank boats, though one or possibly two washtrakes may have been added to the sides. The rigging is likely fairly accurate, the loadings as featured in the replicas across the country are not accurate, with oversize stores. The big boat was not a keelboat but a barge with a different hull. The rest of the interior and rigging on most replica barges are accurate because there are good drawings by Clark. Again interior cargo is usually featured inaccurately. During my presentation on the tour boat last year I challenged anyone to prove me wrong. Of course my research and documentation are extensive, unlike other researchers of the boats. i challenged any one to prove me wrong and no one has yet presented contrary assessments. At least two interpreters at L & C sites with boat replicas complimented me on my reinterpretations and evidence. I though I will be watching, I do not have the ability to communicate in real time with my computer hardware. John W. Fisher
