June Flood Update

The road to our Center was closed by the park today. The levels had risen to the road between 8 am and noon. We are closed now until further notice, especially since there is more rain on the way.
We saw three red-tailed hawks flying between the woods today, crying out and dashing at each other. Swallows were diving for the insects that were scattered by the flood.

We are open today! Yesterday we finished clearing away the logs from the trails. The floods had moved around many rotten logs. We still have some work to do, but the trails are passable. The ground is still muddy–and we could easily see fox and deer prints near the river.
We are resuming our normal schedule except for this coming Friday when the building is rented for an environmental conference.
