We’re offering both virtual and on site programs for the winter, with tickets available through our Eventbrite landing page
https://lewisandclarkexploratorycenter.eventbrite.com where you can go to check out what’s on offer through January, with detailed descriptions.
Our on-site program, “Introduction to Nature Journaling and a Hike,” allows families or a group or learning pod to sign up exclusively for a socially-distanced outside program. We teach the basics of keeping a journal while also telling the story of the Lewis and Clark journals and Thomas Jefferson’s goals for documenting the Expedition.
Our online program is called “Monuments: The Lewis, Clark, and Sacajawea Statue in Charlottesville, Virginia,’ which is an interactive, photographic webinar examining the Charles Keck statue, “Their First View of the Pacific.” Participants are prompted to answer questions by writing notes and then to form their own opinions about the controversial statue. Ultimately they are asked to decide what they think should be done with the statue, which is slated to be moved from its current location.
